Pumpkart.com, a Chandigarh based e-commerce website which was started just 4 months back is in the talks with a group of investors or VC firms to make an infusion of $ 15 million funding. With the unique product range and positive response of pump manufacturers and customers, this website is growing rapidly and become one of India’s fastest growing online portals. It is planning to raise $ 15 million in the first round.
Pumpkart founder, KS Bhatia says, “As a policy concern, this is not the right time to disclose the name of funding firms with whom we are in talk but within one month we would be able to clear you everything. However, in the first round we are hoping to get $ 15 million.” He denies discussing anything about the identity of VC firms.
Pumpkart.com started in June 2014 as an online platform for water pumps, and now it is adding a wide range of many other home products including water heaters, Jacuzzis, shower panels etc. to strengthen its clientele base. “We are getting a good number of orders of high volume on daily bases and hopes that this number will double till the end of this year. We are also launching offline stores in all major cities across the country to hit more customers,” shares K S Bhatia.
Pumpkart.com is not just another e-commerce portal, it is much beyond that. Besides the top quality products some of which are available exclusively on the site, it offers detailed information about how an individual can find and buy the right pump for their needs. However, it has all set to open its 1st in Chandigarh by the end of Oct 2014. Whereas 2nd outlet will be opened in Ludhiana by the end of this year. “Water pumps are essential home appliances that have not got enough mileage till now, but it’s time for some change. With the launching of pumpkart.com, pumps are now a major part of the e-commerce business and it will also contribute to make this sector organized one,” shares Bhatia, who has 15 years experience in the same industry.
He further adds, “We have already established our brand name in the market in a short span and investors are knocking on our door because of unique product range of high value. We intend to blast the pump industry and are optimistic of getting 300 -350 orders on a daily basis online as well as offline within next one year,” says Bhatia.
“There is no other player from this country having such a wide range of water pumps all in one place. We will be selling pumps and solar water heaters, Jacuzzis, shower panels and related products as a combo in the coming months too,” quips KS Bhatia.
Asking about business future plans Bhatia replies, “We aim to become the largest player in the Indian pump industry. We aim to provide free service to consumers by employing experienced professionals for installation and service of pumps. Soon we are also going to launch a mobile application for online shopping of pumps.”
Pumpkart is aimed at helping the customers make informed choices for any type of pump for domestic and agricultural use. So, this site was conceptualized as a hub for all water pumping needs. Pumps are in great demand in big as well as small industries, commercial establishments like hotels and hospitals and for domestic water supply purposes.
